Saint Bonaventure.'When we pray, the voice of the heart must be heard more than that proceeding from the mouth.'Comment: Prayer is not the mere verbalising of pre-written formulae, but the cry of the child of God to his gracious Father. It is a cry of confidence from the very depths of our nature, a longing for the Good, for the Supreme Beauty, our only End and our purpose. Without this intimate communication in the Spirit, no man can be saved, how can we regain the divine likeness, when the very archtype is foreign to us?
